flywyn for iPhone
Offline GPS at 35,000 feet.
Wondering how fast you're going, how high you are, or how far you are from your destination? flywyn shows you, using only your iPhone's built-in GPS. No wifi or cell signal required.
What you see
Everything the seatback screen shows, on your own phone.
Position
Live latitude and longitude, with a GPS signal meter that shows how accurate your fix is.
Altitude
Height above sea level in feet or meters, straight from the GPS.
Ground speed
How fast you're actually moving over the ground, in mph or km/h.
Distance to destination
Pick your arrival airport by code, name, or city, and see how many miles remain.
Time to arrival
An estimate based on your current speed that updates continuously as you fly.
Your flight path
A live map with your great circle course and a breadcrumb trail you can save when you land.
How it works
Download the maps on the ground. Use them in the air.
Your iPhone's GPS listens to satellites directly, so it works in airplane mode. flywyn stores its maps on your phone before you board, so the map works too.
-
Open flywyn once on wifi
On first launch it downloads a world map for offline use, from continents down to city level.
-
Pick your destination before you board
flywyn then downloads street-to-runway detail around where you are and where you're going.
-
Fly with airplane mode on
Watch your speed, altitude, distance, and time to arrival. A window seat gives the best GPS signal.
-
Save your trip when you land
Tap stop to save your breadcrumb trail as a file you can find in the Files app.
